When I was a student, I used to regularly drive right across Scotland, from the west coast to the east.
Every time, I would get to Glasgow and be faced with a decision: I could either go north from Glasgow over the Kincardine Bridge, or I could head east and head over the Forth Road Bridge.
Neither of these routes was better than the other - they took a similar amount of time, they both had places to stop to eat, they were both nice roads to drive on.
