Prosecutors drop death penalty for Nick Reiner for alleged murders of parents

(NewsNation) — Prosecutors are no longer seeking the death penalty against Nick Reiner, who is accused in the double murders of his parents, director Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner.
Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman announced his decision Tuesday, saying the maximum sentence Reiner can now receive is life in prison without the possibility of parole if convicted.
Hochman said he had discussed taking the death penalty off the table with Reiner’s siblings before making the decision.
